Life Came Back to Our Home
My marriage was on the verge of collapse. Years of piled-up wounds, words that could not be forgotten, doors slammed shut. I lived in one house with my wife, yet we were as far apart as two people on earth could be. We had tried everything except one thing.
When I began reading the Bible, I read about Christ, who forgives even his enemies. One verse stopped me: “bearing with one another and… forgiving each other.” It felt as if it was spoken straight to my heart. I wept and asked God to give me a power to forgive that I do not have in myself.
Something changed inside me that night. I began to see my wife with different eyes: not as an enemy, but as a person who needs love just as I do. Little by little, life came back to our home. Today our home is full of warmth, of the scent of frankincense and Yemeni coffee, and the scent of peace.
“bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.”
Colossians 3:13
