Your Safety First

We are glad you are here. We know that some people who visit this site live in homes or communities that may not accept their search for Christ. Being wise about your safety is not fear or a lack of faith; it is part of the wisdom the Lord himself called us to. This page helps you read and write to us with care.

If You Are in Danger Now

We do not monitor messages around the clock, and our reply may be delayed. If your life or someone else's life is in danger now:

  • Call the emergency number in the country where you are.
  • Or go to someone you trust and stay with them.
  • If contacting the authorities would put you at risk, start with a trusted person near you.

Then message us when you can, and we will pray with you and write to you if you have left us a way to reply.

Browse safely in one minute

  • If you can, use a device no one else uses, with a lock code no one else knows. And if you think your device has monitoring software on it, do not use it to contact us.
  • Open the site in “private browsing” (incognito), so the pages do not stay in your history after you close them.
  • If someone walks in on you suddenly, close the page at once. Or press the “Quick Exit” button at the top or bottom of the page, or press the Esc key three times in a row, and it will take you straight to an ordinary website. But neither the button nor closing the page clears your browser history.
  • Do not write your real name, your city or other people's names in any form or chat. A pseudonym is always fine.
  • If you message us on WhatsApp, we will see your number, and the conversation stays on your phone. Delete it if your phone might be searched, and do not save our number under a name that points to the church.
  • Nothing online is completely safe. Private browsing does not hide your visit from your internet provider, or from whoever runs the network at home or at work.

1. Choose a safe device

  • It is best to use a device no one else uses, with a lock code no one else knows.
  • Avoid a family member's phone, work devices and internet café computers, if you can.
  • If you think your device has monitoring software on it (for example, if someone knows what you write without you telling them), do not use it to contact us.

2. Private (incognito) browsing

  • In Chrome on your phone: tap the three dots at the top, then “New Incognito tab”.
  • In Safari on iPhone: tap the tabs button, then “Private”.
  • This mode does not keep a history of the pages once you close them.
  • Be aware: private browsing does not hide your visit from your internet provider, from whoever runs the network at home or at work, or from monitoring software installed on the device.

3. Clear your history and this site's data

If you did not use private browsing:

  • Chrome on Android: the three dots, then “History”, then “Delete browsing data”. Choose “Browsing history” and “Cookies and site data”.
  • Safari on iPhone: “Settings”, then “Safari”, then “Clear History and Website Data”.
  • On a computer: press Ctrl, Shift and Delete together in most browsers.

Delete all your history, or only the visits to this site. But remember that a completely empty history can draw attention in some homes, so choose what suits your situation.

4. WhatsApp and messages

  • If you message us on WhatsApp, we will see your number, and the conversation will stay on your phone.
  • Turn on “Disappearing messages” in your chat with us.
  • Delete the chat when you have finished if your phone might be searched.
  • Do not save our number under a name that points to the church.
  • Watch out for WhatsApp's automatic backup, as it may save your chats to your cloud account.
  • If you do not want to show your number, write to us from the contact page using a pseudonym and an email address that does not carry your name.

5. Photos and files

  • Do not send us photos of your face, your home, your street or your documents.
  • Photos taken on a phone can carry the place where they were taken. If you have to send a photo, turn off “Location” in your camera settings first.
  • Do not save anything you download from our site in a folder that others can see.

6. What you write to us

  • You do not need to write your real name; a pseudonym is always fine.
  • Do not mention your city or village, or other people's names, especially the names of other believers.
  • The automated assistant on this site is a program, not a person. Do not type your name, your location or your number into it.

7. Accounts and passwords

  • Use a password that nobody else knows for your email and your phone.
  • Turn on two-step verification for your email and for WhatsApp.
  • If you create an email address to contact us, do not put your real name in it, and do not link it to your phone number if you can avoid it.

8. Virtual private networks (VPNs)

  • Some VPN apps can help hide the sites you visit from your internet provider.
  • But using them is banned or monitored in some countries, and some are untrustworthy and sell their users' data.
  • We do not recommend any particular app. If you need advice, ask an expert you trust.

9. What we keep and what we do not

  • Prayer requests and messages from the site's forms: these reach the church by email and are not stored in the site's database. A few members of our ministry team read them, and we do not publish or sell them. On the way, they pass through our hosting provider and our email provider.
  • The automated assistant: your messages to it are sent to an outside technology company to generate the reply, and the conversation is stored on our server. Messages you send from the email window inside the chat are also stored on our server.
  • WhatsApp: we see your number, and the messages pass through Meta.
  • Giving: payment is made on the PayPal site, and your card details do not reach us. PayPal sends us your name, your email and the amount.
  • On your device: our site stores a small setting for the language you chose, and a random number for your conversation with the automated assistant if you use it. All of this is cleared along with “site data”, as in step 3. We do not place any advertising cookies on your device.
  • Third parties: our pages pass through our hosting provider and its content delivery network, so it knows that a device opened our site. When you tap a link to WhatsApp, PayPal or social media, you move over to that company.
  • What we do not ask for: we do not ask for your full name, your address, your ID number, your photo or the names of your family members.

10. What we cannot do

  • We cannot see your device, and we cannot protect it.
  • We do not monitor messages around the clock, and our reply may be delayed.
  • We cannot promise you physical protection, travel or financial support.
  • What we do promise: to pray for you, to treat what you write with discretion and love, and to be honest with you.
