Our Faith

The foundation of our lives and the wellspring of our hope in Christ Jesus

Discover what we believe as a Yemeni Christian community: a faith built on God's living Word, the life of Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and lives

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6
Who Is Jesus Christ?

The heart of our faith and the centre of our lives

Jesus Christ is the heart of our faith and the wellspring of our life. We believe he is the only Son of God, the eternal Word who became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. He was born of the Virgin Mary and lived a life without sin. He walked among people doing good, healing everyone who was sick and everyone whose heart was broken.

He died on the cross as an atonement for the sins of all people. He was not forced to; he did it because God's love for people has no limits. On the third day he rose from the dead, victorious over death, fear and darkness, declaring that life is stronger than death and that our hope is real.

Jesus is not merely a prophet or a great teacher. He is God revealed in the flesh. In him all the perfections of God meet human tenderness. He understands us because he has known the weakness, pain and temptation we face, and he forgives us because he alone paid the full price for every sin.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

John 1:14

We Have All Sinned

None of us is perfect. At some point in our lives, all of us have moved away from God. Sin is not only doing bad things. It is being far from God and from his love.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” — Romans 3:23

⚖️

The Result of Sin

Sin separates us from God, who is pure. Nothing unclean can live in the presence of the holy God — this is the heart of the problem.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life” — Romans 6:23

God's Eternal Love

Despite our sins and our distance from him, God's heart is full of love for every person. He has not given up on us — he prepared the plan of salvation before the foundation of the world.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son” — John 3:16

✝️

Christ Died in Our Place

Jesus carried our sins on the cross and paid their price in full by his death. He was not forced — he came out of love, because we could not pay the price ourselves.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

Salvation by Faith

Salvation cannot be earned by good works, fasting or prayers — it is a free gift we receive by faith in Jesus, accepting him as Saviour and Lord.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

Confess and Receive

The first step is to confess your sins, believe that Jesus died and rose again for you, and receive him as Lord and Saviour of your life. This begins a completely new life.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” — Romans 10:9

Prayer and a Relationship with God

Talking with God — Heart to Heart

Prayer is not a ritual or a routine — it is the breath of the spirit and a real conversation with God, who hears you and cares about every detail of your life

1

What Is Prayer?

Prayer is direct conversation between a person and the Lord — not memorised words or a religious ritual, but a real, heartfelt conversation with God, who hears even what we cannot put into words. You can pray in any language, anywhere, at any time.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” — Matthew 7:7
2

Why Do We Pray?

We pray because God wants a relationship with us. He does not want fear or formality from us, but closeness. Prayer changes us from within, even when our circumstances stay the same. It brings peace in the middle of the storm and reminds us that we are never alone on this path.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” — Philippians 4:6
3

How Do We Pray?

Jesus taught us to pray with an honest heart and the simplicity of a child. You do not need fancy words — say what is on your heart: thank you, forgive me, help me. Begin with praise, admit your need, and ask with confidence, because God is your Father and he loves you.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name” — Matthew 6:9

God's Word, Living and Active

The Bible is not just a history book — it is the living Word of God, which speaks to the heart, lights the way and changes lives

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by real human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Every word of it is from God, every promise in it is trustworthy, and every teaching in it is true and good for shaping our lives and guiding our steps.

It is made up of 66 books, written over more than 1,500 years by 40 different writers, and yet it carries one coherent message: the story of God's love for humanity and his plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Bible is not only a book of science or history. It is a mirror that shows us who we really are, a sword that cuts through hidden idols, and a light on the path in the darkest moments. Hundreds of millions of people have found in it the answer to the deepest questions of their hearts.

“The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit”

The Church as a Spiritual Family

You Are Not Alone on This Path

The church is not a building or an institution — it is a spiritual family that shares life, faith, prayer and service together

In the Bible, the church is the body of Christ: a community of true believers who live out their faith together, not on their own. They learn God's Word together, pray for one another, rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.

As a Yemeni Christian community, our church is a family that understands your situation, shares your worries, prays with you and encourages you in the hardest moments. You don't need to convince yourself that you need no one — we were created for real relationships and pure love.

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

Acts 2:42

Basic Questions About Faith

Questions Many People Ask

No question is too small to ask, and no doubt too big to answer. Here are honest answers to the questions on the minds of many Yemenis

1 How can I believe in Christ and begin this journey?

The first step is to admit that you need God and that your sins separate you from him. Then believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for you and rose from the dead, and confess with your mouth that he is your Lord and Saviour. You don't need special words — just speak to God honestly from your heart. And if you would like someone to walk with you personally, our team is ready to go with you step by step.

2 Is Jesus the only way to God?

Yes, this is what the Bible says very clearly. Jesus himself said: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). This is not because God wants to make things hard for people, but because sin separates us from God, and Jesus alone paid the price of that separation. Love opened one door — but it stands wide open to every person.

3 What Happens After Death?

The Bible clearly teaches that there is life after death. Whoever believes in Jesus Christ will be with the Lord for ever, in a presence filled with peace and joy beyond words. Jesus says: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25). For the believer, death is a door into a greater, more beautiful life without end.

4 Can God forgive all my sins, however great they are?

Yes, absolutely — no sin is greater than God's love and forgiveness. The Bible says: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). God does not turn away anyone who comes to him with a broken and repentant heart — instead, he rejoices at their return, just as the father rejoiced when his prodigal son came home.

5 How do I know that God really loves me?

The greatest proof of God's love is the cross — Jesus died for you while you were still a sinner (Romans 5:8). He did not wait for you to earn his love or prove yourself. His love has no conditions and no limits. And as you read his Word and pray, you will sense his presence and tenderness in the very depths of your heart — because God does not abandon anyone who seeks him.

6 What does it mean to be a real Christian in my daily life?

A real Christian is not someone who simply performs religious rituals, but someone with a living relationship with Jesus Christ that shapes every part of their life. It means reading God's Word and praying every day, seeking to act with love and integrity, and bearing witness to what God is doing in your life. It is not instant perfection — it is a journey of steady growth in grace and love.

7 Do I need a church or a community of believers to be a Christian?

God accepts you wherever you are, but fellowship with other believers is an essential part of a healthy Christian life. The Bible speaks of “not neglecting to meet together” (Hebrews 10:25). In community you find encouragement when you are weak, accountability when you stumble, and the love you need to grow. Our online church is open to you wherever you are. And if you live somewhere your faith could put you in danger, begin with safe fellowship with one trusted believer or a small group, and do not reveal your faith before seeking advice from the person who walks with you spiritually. The Lord tells us: “so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16).

8 How do I begin a real relationship with God if I don't know where to start?

Start where you are, with the words you have. Tell God honestly: “God, I need you. I believe that Jesus died for me and rose again. I want you in my life.” That is enough. Then start reading the Gospel of John — it is the most direct way into the heart of Jesus. And get in touch with us, so that one of us can walk with you through these first steps.
