A Young Yemeni's Prayer Far from Home

My Lord, I am far from Yemen, and sometimes this distance hurts in a way I cannot explain to anyone who has not lived it. My heart is in Yemen, even though I live in another land. I do not want to forget my roots, or lose my faith in the rush of life abroad. Lord, you have been the dwelling place of your people in all generations; be my lasting home, the homeland from which no one is ever exiled. Fill my loneliness with your presence, and give me brothers and sisters in the faith to encourage me. And make my time abroad an opportunity to be a witness to your love among people, with wisdom and love. Amen.
