A Prayer in Times of Despair

Spirit of God, I have no words today. My despair is bigger than my words. But you are the one who helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Let this groaning of mine be a prayer. You know what is in my heart better than I do. Just one word: help me. I do not know how to ask or what to ask for, but I know that you are the answer, even when I do not understand the question. Spirit of God, intercede for me. Amen.

If despair is pushing you to think about harming yourself, do not stay alone: call your local emergency services now, or someone you trust who is near you, and read the “Your Safety First” guidance. And when you can, write to us, even under a pseudonym. A small team from the church reads the messages and replies when it can, and a reply may take some time.
