A Prayer in Times of Deep Distress

O God, my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. The ground around me is shaking: hard circumstances, painful news, and pressure that never ends. But you have said that you are our refuge. I run to you now, not to escape the problem, but to ask you for strength and wisdom to face it. Lord Jesus, be with me in the middle of the storm, as you were with your disciples on the troubled sea. And as you said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” and there was a great calm, speak your word to my troubled heart, and let it be still. Amen.
