Evening Prayer

My Lord, now that the noise of the day has quietened, I sit before you and look back on what has passed. Thank you for the moments when I did well; I know your grace was behind them. For the ways I have done wrong in word, deed or thought, I confess before you and ask your forgiveness, trusting that you are faithful and just to forgive me and to cleanse me, for the sake of Jesus Christ, who died for me. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. I do not want to sleep carrying the burdens of the day, so I lay them in your hands now. Thank you that I have peace with you through Christ; give me peace within as well, and let my heart be at rest before I close my eyes. Amen.
