As if these words were written for me

I was living in a thick darkness and did not know where it came from. I lost my father in the war and was left alone, carrying a pain I cannot describe. I went to sleep and woke up with the same question hounding me: why? Why me? Why this pain? I tried to find the answer, but I found no rest.

One night, among the silent mountains, I was alone and dark thoughts almost swallowed me. I opened my phone and came across a clip about Christ that said: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” I stopped. I felt something stir in my chest, as if these words were written for me.

I prayed from my heart for the first time in my life, and spoke to God as a son speaks to his father. I wept for a long time, and in those tears I felt a hand wiping from my soul what had piled up on it over the years. Since that night, God has been rebuilding what pain had torn down in my heart.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28
