If You Are in Danger Now

If your life or someone else's life is in danger now, do not wait for our reply. We do not monitor messages around the clock, and our reply may be delayed.

  • Call the emergency number in the country where you are.
  • Or go to someone you trust and stay with them.
  • If contacting the authorities would put you at risk, start with a trusted person near you.

If you are in the United Kingdom

  • Emergency services (police and ambulance): 999.
  • Samaritans, for emotional support and for anyone having thoughts of harming themselves: 116 123. It is free and open 24 hours a day.
  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247. It is free and open 24 hours a day.
  • Forced Marriage Unit: 020 7008 0151.
  • Childline, for children and young people: 0800 1111. It is free.

If you are in another country

Call your country's local emergency number, or go to someone you trust who is near you. We do not list numbers here for Yemen or other countries until we have checked each one, because a wrong number in a moment of danger could cost you precious time.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself

If you are thinking of harming yourself, you are not a burden, and you are not alone. Your pain is real, and it deserves to be talked about now with someone who will listen. If you can, move away from anything you might use to hurt yourself, and call someone you trust who is near you, or a support line in your country. In the UK you can call Samaritans on 116 123 at any time, or the emergency services on 999 if you are in immediate danger.

Once you are safe

Write to us whenever you can, even using a pseudonym, through the contact page or the prayer request form. A few trusted members of our ministry team will pray for you, and we will write back when we can if you leave us a way to reply. Before you write, read Your Safety First to learn how to reduce the traces your messages may leave on your device.

A word for your heart

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

Psalm 34:18

Lord, I am afraid and tired. Be near me now, and send someone to help me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
