A Prayer at Dawn

Lord, before the day begins, I am in your hands. O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I direct my prayer to you and watch. As frankincense rises from the mountains of Yemen in the early morning, let my prayer rise to you. I dedicate this new day to you: my thoughts, my feelings, my words and my actions. You were watching over me before I opened my eyes, and you are the one who marks out my steps. My Lord, be the light of this day before me, around me and within me. I do not know what lies ahead, but I know you, and that is enough for me. Give me a wakeful heart, so that I see your hand in every detail. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
