A Lamp for Your Path

Your first seven days: Day 2.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Psalm 119:105

Reflection

Anyone who has walked a mountain path at night with a small lamp knows that the lamp does not light up the whole way. It lights only the next step, and that is enough to get there.

God's Word works like that in your life. You won't understand the whole Bible in a day, and you don't need to. You need to read a little of it every day, and God will light up the next step for you.

Start with the Gospel of John, one chapter a day. Before you read, ask God to speak to you. After you read, ask yourself one question: what does this chapter tell me about Jesus?

Today, read the first chapter of John's Gospel, and choose one verse to keep in your heart and think about throughout the day.

If having a Bible in your home could put you in danger, first read the Your Safety First page, and choose wisely the way that best suits your circumstances. No way is free of all risk, so don't rush. God knows your circumstances.

Prayer

Lord, “your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Open my heart as I read, show me Jesus on every page, and light up the next step for me. Amen.
